I am one of the dinosaurs who can still place a %26quot;gold foil%26quot; filling and they can be done VERY tiny, so at least it wouldn%26#039;t be destroying much tooth structure to have this done. I%26#039;ve seen gold foils last over 50 years, too.

The biggest concern about metal is if you have done soldering and could have metal fragments near your eye--the fragments could move and damage the eye. Shrapnel can also sometimes move.





Any device which involves an electric current, like pacemakers or neurostimulator units, will stop working in the MRI due to the strong magnetic field. For obvious reasons, this is bad!

I went in with my gold wedding ring on and a genital piercing made of steel and forgot about them. halfway through I was trying to call out to the man but he couldnt hear me. Once I was out he said it wasnt a problem at all and they only remove most items to be safe. It would be very unusual for you not to have to fill out a questionnaire when you get there which askes you questions like this. it is most definitely not a silly question at all.





I do have a funny story though. I am a Neonatal RN and recently one of our RN%26#039;s had to take a baby down to MRI in a metal cot. As the MRI%26#039;s are always powered up where I work she wheeled the cot into the room (luckily the baby had been removed) and as she become near the MRI the cot waas flung up against it and stuck very firm. She said her fingers were very close to being stuck in between. Subsequently the radiologist was VERY unimpressed and the MRI had to be turned off to have the cot removed.

I have noticed that quite a significant amount of Eastern European women (e.g. Albanians, Romanians, Estonians, etc) have lots of gold teeth?? Why is this?? I find it hard to believe that they have probably lost their own teeth to gum disease because generally when you look at the rest of their teeth they look healthy.

The school did it to help keep its students and staff safe, and it was the right move. All schools should do the same.

Gold teeth removal?

Okay, my older brother did something stupid when he was 17 and put gold teeth in his mouth. He has 4 golds at the top. It%26#039;s cemented, not removable. Now he%26#039;s 23 and has changed his whole style and attitude, except he has golds in his mouth. He doesn%26#039;t want them anymore. Can a dentist take them out, even if there%26#039;s cement on them? Or will he have to go through expensive cosmetic surgery?

I have a gold teeth...should i get rid of it ?

i am almost 27 years and i got my gold tooth at the age of 16. At that time i was somewhat boyish and liked crazy fashion. ....


All through the years i had no intimate relationships and everyone liked my gold tooth. At 26 i met a European guy and we fell deeply inlove..i was afraid to tell him i have a gold tooth, thinking he will hate it and also his wealthy family.


but he loved it. now i am 27 married and i live in europe.. his family and friends loves my gold tooth. but i dont.


so the argument is..they all dont want me to take it out but i do. We are planning on starting a family this month and i dont want my child to know me with a gold tooth...the gold is on a front teeth. I was offered a job to be a picture model but i turned it down because of the tooth. i am very pretty as people say but i personally think i am not with the tooth.


Questions 1. Should i get rid of it regardless of what they say?


2. If i put a white tooth will it stay in and never fall out after some yrs?

I think you just got used to your gold teeth. But really, try having those removed and replaced with porcelain teeth. Believe me, you will look better with them. And they will feel like natural teeth. I think it%26#039;s about time you changed those.

Reply:It is VERY RARE that a dentist would suggest a gold crown on a front tooth. They are usually only recommended for back teeth. They have BEAUTIFUL amazing porcelain crowns for front teeth now, sometimes look nicer than your other teeth. Get one you will be happy with it.





PS Any crown can fall off, even gold ones, eventually. You just have to get a replacement done or have it recemented on.

you can get a porcelain fused to gold crown which look like your other teeth but will last as long as your current all gold crown (best of both worlds) these cost around $1500 each.
Reply:Porcelain crown is very abrasive and will wear off the opposing tooth. If you really hate it I would suggest a zirconia crown instead of porcelain. But personally I think the gold will last heaps longer.

Reply:think mouth guard. It is like that. You can buy prefitted ones that you just slip over your teeth or you can get them permanent for a larger fee. Either way, IT may look cool (if you are truly cool enough to pull it off) But it gives you really bad breath for some reason. (trust me my X had them). And there is not really much you can do about protecting your teeth if they are perm. If you get the slip ons then just brush as normal.

You would brush your teeth as you usually do but there is some kind of mouthwash stuff that you can use too. (I don%26#039;t know the name) If you get a grill then the shape it to fit your mouth. You can take it off and brush your teeth normally.

Gold teeth are very unpleasant to look at and an unbelievable waste of money. They don%26#039;t look good on ANYONE, so there is no reason to think that you will be the first to make them look good.





My advice? Spend the money on normal dental work (if you even need it), and put the rest in the bank.

Reply:probably 2 or 3 decades ago, cavities in the tooth used to be filled with silver amalgam. reason being, it was as strong if not stronger than tooth itself, thus less chances of it crumbling during forces applied while chewing and grinding. the silver at times used to get tarnished partially.


metal crowns looked silvery, and people thought of it as a status symbol to get golden colored crowns. apart from cosmetic value, there is no distinct advantage of the golden crown.
