At what temperature will old gold teeth fillings melt?

I have four of them (worth about $14 total, no big deal) and wondered if I could make something out of those fillings since dentists say they won%26#039;t use them on other teeth that could use the fillings.

At what temperature will old gold teeth fillings melt?
Gold melts at 1064.58 degrees Celsius (1948.24 Fahrenheit).

  1. Gold fillings don't just contain gold. Fillings are a composite of other metals in order to strengthen the gold that is in the fillings. But, the fillings do melt. And, yes, you can get some money for those fillings. It's called dental gold. If you took some dental gold to a jeweler, they would recognize it right away and you can buy dental gold on ebay...so there is a market for dental gold.
