Do gold teeth have specific meaning or are they just a fashion statement?

What do gold teeth signify?
I don%26#039;t think it is a statement as much as a confession of very bad taste.

Reply:they signify a lack of affording platinum
Reply:Too me, they signify too much money and not enough good taste.
Reply:I have two crowns made of gold. The dentist said they would hold up better, since they are on molars. In the front, it is a look at me, I have gold thing. It%26#039;s not that much more then porcelain, so it is an attitude, a statement.

In Louisiana, during slave trading days, many Africans were imported from the Senegambia area. Even during those times this area was populated by Islamic African people. Muslim slaves were %26quot;freed%26quot; at a greater frequency than non-Muslim slaves due to their %26quot;literacy%26quot; - adeptness to read and write (even if it was Arabic).

During slavery, gold teeth helped to distinguish a %26quot;free%26quot; Black person from an enslaved one. Once a slave was freed, he/she may get a gold tooth to signify emancipation.
